AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on the long-term changes in Earth's environment as it orbits the galaxy, emphasizing that these changes are influenced by the solar system's passage through varying density regions and galactic structures. It highlights the effects of density waves in spiral arms and the oscillation through the galactic plane on environmental conditions. Additionally, interactions with nearby stars can lead to perturbations in the Oort cloud, altering radiation levels and gravitational dynamics. These factors collectively suggest significant environmental shifts over extensive time scales. Understanding these influences is crucial for comprehending Earth's future in the broader context of the solar system's evolution.

Will Earth's, our solar systems environment, change over large time scales ?
i am not asking about solar or Earth (local) changes.

Yes, as our solar system orbits about the galaxy, it enters regions of higher/lower density (e.g., oscillating through the galactic plane, density waves through the spiral arms). And then there are events like interactions with nearby stars (e.g., Oort cloud pertubations, changes in radiation levels, gravitational interactions).

Publication: Redox-driven mineral and organic associations in Jezero Crater, Mars Article: NASA Says Mars Rover Discovered Potential Biosignature Last Year Press conference The ~100 authors don't find a good way this could have formed without life, but also can't rule it out. Now that they have shared their findings with the larger community someone else might find an explanation - or maybe it was actually made by life.
TL;DR Summary: In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. In case of failure to detect alien signals, it will further expand the radius of the so-called silence (or rather, radio silence) of the Universe. Is there any sense in this or is blissful ignorance better? In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation.
