Hey,

Does anyone know a good program (similar to word) that can be used to write mathematical formulas? It kind of sucks to write them in word as it is very limited.

Lol preferably a freeware.

Never use Word. Always use LaTeX. It is completely free. Just google for it (being careful to include the word mathematics; who knows what a google search for the word latex alone will reveal). Probably best is to buy the Kopka and Daly book that will come with a CD with an installation on it for you.

I posted this in the Lame Math thread, but it's got me thinking. Is there any validity to this? Or is it really just a mathematical trick? Naively, I see that i2 + plus 12 does equal zero2. But does this have a meaning? I know one can treat the imaginary number line as just another axis like the reals, but does that mean this does represent a triangle in the complex plane with a hypotenuse of length zero?
