AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on finding a better method to solve the catenary cable equation, specifically to determine the value of 'c', which represents an imaginary point below the lowest point of the cable. Participants seek clarification on the sign convention used for 'c' and whether it aligns with common understanding. If no alternative methods are available, they inquire about estimating 'c' through trial and error. The conversation emphasizes the need for clear communication regarding definitions and conventions in the context of catenary cables. Further explanations may be necessary for better comprehension.

Can somebody teach me a better way to solve the equation of catenary cable to find the value of c? If there is no other better alternative, can you tell me how to estimate a value for the trial and error method.

Thanks

Do you understand what c I am referring to? I don't know if the sign convention used by me is the same as you. It is the imaginary point located below the lowest point of a catenary cable, which acts as origin. Please tell me should you need further explanation.

Thanks
