Fluid Mechanics Book recommandation

AI Thread Summary
Fluid Mechanics by Young and Munson is a commonly used textbook, but users seek additional resources for more example problems. Recommended alternatives include Batchelor's text, which is affordable and serves as a good supplement, and White's book, noted for its quality despite being more expensive. Other suggestions include "Fluid Principles" by Alan Vardy for conceptual understanding and "Elementary Fluid Dynamics" by Acheson for mathematical insights. Volume 6 of Landau-Lifgarbagez is also highlighted as a comprehensive resource covering extensive fluid mechanics topics. These recommendations aim to enhance understanding and problem-solving in introductory fluid mechanics for civil engineering students.

We are using Fluid Mechanics by Young and Munson.
It is a good book but I want to get another one for more example problems.
What is a good textbook for introductory Fluid Mechanics?
I am a civil engineering student.
Thanks

Thanks guys. I will check those book out.

Fluid Principles by Alan Vardy will help with understanding.

Elementary Fluid Dynamics by Acheson will help with the maths.

go well

One of the best fluids books is Volume 6 of Landau-Lifgarbagez.Covers everything you'll ever need plus more.

Hi all, I have a question. So from the derivation of the Isentropic process relationship PV^gamma = constant, there is a step dW = PdV, which can only be said for quasi-equilibrium (or reversible) processes. As such I believe PV^gamma = constant (and the family of equations) should not be applicable to just adiabatic processes? Ie, it should be applicable only for adiabatic + reversible = isentropic processes? However, I've seen couple of online notes/books, and...
Thread 'How can I find the cleanout for my building drain?'
I am a long distance truck driver, but I recently completed a plumbing program with Stratford Career Institute. In the chapter of my textbook Repairing DWV Systems, the author says that if there is a clog in the building drain, one can clear out the clog by using a snake augur or maybe some other type of tool into the cleanout for the building drain. The author said that the cleanout for the building drain is usually near the stack. I live in a duplex townhouse. Just out of curiosity, I...
