This frequency is called the resonant frequency. In summary, the resonant frequency is the frequency at which a particle vibrates with maximum amplitude when set into vibration.

Does anybody know the name given to the frequency at which an object vibrates with maxium amplitude??

Are you thinking of resonant frequency?

No I am thinking of when a particle is set into vibration, what the frequency is called when it has a maximum amplitude

Flo123, I think Doc Al is correct.

When a particle is set into vibration, it will oscillate at its own natural (resonant) frequency which is determined by its physical characteristics. As the frequency of the driving force (or applied frequency) approaches the resonant frequency of the resonator, the amplitude of the resonator approaches a maximum.

1. What is frequency?

Frequency refers to the number of occurrences of a repeating event per unit of time. In terms of vibrations, it is the number of oscillations or cycles per second.

2. What is amplitude?

Amplitude is the maximum displacement or distance from the resting position of a vibrating object. It is often measured in meters or centimeters.

3. What is the relationship between frequency and amplitude?

The relationship between frequency and amplitude is inverse. This means that as the frequency increases, the amplitude decreases, and vice versa.

4. What is the unit of measurement for frequency and amplitude?

The unit of measurement for frequency is hertz (Hz), which represents one cycle per second. The unit of measurement for amplitude varies depending on the type of vibration, but it is usually measured in meters or centimeters.

5. What is the name for maximum amplitude vibration?

The name for maximum amplitude vibration varies depending on the context. In general, it can be referred to as a peak or crest, but in specific fields such as seismology or audio engineering, there may be different terms used.
