Galaxies & Masses: Find a List or Table Here

AI Thread Summary
A user is seeking a comprehensive list or table of galaxies along with their masses and redshifts. Recommendations include checking the Sloan Digital Sky Survey databases, which require a user account and some SQL knowledge to access the data. A link to the Harvard ADS was also provided as a potential resource. The discussion emphasizes the importance of accessible databases for obtaining astronomical data. Overall, users are encouraged to explore these resources for detailed galaxy information.

Does anyone know where to find a list or table of galaxies and their masses? I haven't been able to find one yet. One with their redshifts would be nice as well. Thank you very much.

You might want to have a look at the Sloan Digital Sky Survey databases. Anybody can get a user account there, and it is fairly straightforward (if you know how to use SQL) to obtain a list of all galaxies' masses and redshifts. See http://cas.sdss.org/dr7/en/

TL;DR Summary: In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. In case of failure to detect alien signals, it will further expand the radius of the so-called silence (or rather, radio silence) of the Universe. Is there any sense in this or is blissful ignorance better? In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. Thread 'Could gamma-ray bursts have an intragalactic origin?'
This is indirectly evidenced by a map of the distribution of gamma-ray bursts in the night sky, made in the form of an elongated globe. And also the weakening of gamma radiation by the disk and the center of the Milky Way, which leads to anisotropy in the possibilities of observing gamma-ray bursts. My line of reasoning is as follows: 1. Gamma radiation should be absorbed to some extent by dust and other components of the interstellar medium. As a result, with an extragalactic origin, fewer...
