AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on troubleshooting an Apple IICX, with the user seeking guidance on several issues. They need a DA-15 to VGA converter and are unsure of the PRAM location, suspecting it may be the reason the computer won't turn on despite the fan running. The user is also confused about the various connectors and has not found a keyboard or mouse input, although they have located a mouse. They express skepticism about the computer's value, referencing a negative experience with the Apple IIe, while also noting that there are communities that appreciate Apple II models. Overall, the user is looking for advice on connecting peripherals and getting the system operational.

I ended up getting a hold of the apple IICX, even with my computer background I'm not sure where to start, I have figured out that I need a Da-15 to vga converter, but I don't know where to get that? And where the pram is because I think that is the reason why its not turning on, but the fan is going when I hold down the on button. Also I don't know what the rest of those connectors are. I also couldn't find a keyboard or mouse input, with the old style circle connections. http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/5374/dsc1362.th.jpg

Here is a better image and I believe that the video connections(in the top right) are the exact same.

I used an Apple 2 E for a while 25 years ago and it was a horrible computer even then. If this is the same and you have to spend money to get it going, you should consider throwing it in the bin now.

I fed
apple 2 user group
into Google and found there are lots of people who think Apple 2s are wonderful, so you might like to try that.

well its a similar version, sorry for all of the trouble but do you think you can tell me what each of those ports are, I have got an idea about the adb ports for the keyboard and mouse. I found a mouse but still no keyboard. Any advice would be nice

Very basic question. Consider a 3-terminal device with terminals say A,B,C. Kirchhoff Current Law (KCL) and Kirchhoff Voltage Law (KVL) establish two relationships between the 3 currents entering the terminals and the 3 terminal's voltage pairs respectively. So we have 2 equations in 6 unknowns. To proceed further we need two more (independent) equations in order to solve the circuit the 3-terminal device is connected to (basically one treats such a device as an unbalanced two-port...
suppose you have two capacitors with a 0.1 Farad value and 12 VDC rating. label these as A and B. label the terminals of each as 1 and 2. you also have a voltmeter with a 40 volt linear range for DC. you also have a 9 volt DC power supply fed by mains. you charge each capacitor to 9 volts with terminal 1 being - (negative) and terminal 2 being + (positive). you connect the voltmeter to terminal A2 and to terminal B1. does it read any voltage? can - of one capacitor discharge + of the...
Thread 'Weird near-field phenomenon I get in my EM simulation'
I recently made a basic simulation of wire antennas and I am not sure if the near field in my simulation is modeled correctly. One of the things that worry me is the fact that sometimes I see in my simulation "movements" in the near field that seems to be faster than the speed of wave propagation I defined (the speed of light in the simulation). Specifically I see "nodes" of low amplitude in the E field that are quickly "emitted" from the antenna and then slow down as they approach the far...
