Schools Good physics research for a high schooler

AI Thread Summary
A high school student interested in physics seeks ideas for a year-long research project, specifically considering a computer simulation that can be built and tested in real life. Suggestions from the discussion include exploring the Mpemba effect, which involves the phenomenon where hot water freezes faster than cold water. The conversation emphasizes the value of combining theoretical simulations with practical experiments to enhance understanding of physical principles.

I am a high schooler who is interested in physics and wants to do a research project over the course of the next year. In particular, I think it would be cool to write a computer simulation of something, build it in real life, and compare the results, but I am open to other suggestions.

Does anyone have any ideas for potential research projects? Thanks!

The Mpemba effect is always a good one for high school.

Hey, I am Andreas from Germany. I am currently 35 years old and I want to relearn math and physics. This is not one of these regular questions when it comes to this matter. So... I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
