What is the Purpose of Creating a Login on Phys.org Forums?

I have been reading phys.org as part of my daily news fix for quite a while and I find myself lurking about in the forums and thought it was time to create a login, just in case I ever feel smart enough about my subject to post ;) - so hello everyone.
