AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on designing a brake for a disc drive, with specific requirements to stop a shaft at 775 rpm within 0.5 seconds. Participants express confusion over the initial parameters and seek clarification on the context and specifics of the design, such as the size and weight of the disc. Recommendations include consulting "Brake Design and Safety" by Rudolf Limpert for comprehensive guidance. The general consensus is that the query lacks sufficient detail for a precise answer, suggesting further research on brake design fundamentals. Engaging with more specific questions after preliminary research is encouraged for better assistance.

Hai, I'm new here, I hope find you guys well, Sorry, I'd like to ask about designing brake, currently my objectives for designing is Disc drive, I'm very confused, how to calculate, the parameter is the brake need to stop shaft in 775 ppm, in 0,5s for time, what I confused right now, what parameter factor to be consider in designing the brake.

Welcome!
Could you clarify the meaning of "to stop shaft in 775 ppm"?

Some context would be good.
Is it for data storage, or part of a grass mower ?
How big is the disc ?
What does it weigh ?
Is it direct drive ?

Certainly a head scratcher.
But then it came to me.
A typo ppm = rpm

Brake Design and Safety by Rudolf Limpert might be of interest to you.
Please understand that your question is so general that a book, such as the book linked by @jack action, is the simplest answer that we can give to your question. There are also other books on the subject of brakes. You provided so little information that any attempt to answer your question would require writing a similar book.

A good place to start is with search term design of brakes. Careful reading of the first few dozen hits will give you enough general background that you should be able to ask questions that we can answer.

Here's a video by “driving 4 answers” who seems to me to be well versed on the details of Internal Combustion engines. The video does cover something that's a bit shrouded in 'conspiracy theory', and he touches on that, but of course for phys.org, I'm only interested in the actual science involved. He analyzes the claim of achieving 100 mpg with a 427 cubic inch V8 1970 Ford Galaxy in 1977. Only the fuel supply system was modified. I was surprised that he feels the claim could have been...
TL;DR Summary: Heard in the news about using sonar to locate the sub Hello : After the sinking of the ship near the Greek shores , carrying of alot of people , there was another accident that include 5 tourists and a submarine visiting the titanic , which went missing Some technical notes captured my attention, that there us few sonar devices are hearing sounds repeated every 30 seconds , but they are not able to locate the source Is it possible that the sound waves are reflecting from...
Thread 'Turbocharging carbureted petrol 2 stroke engines'
Hi everyone, online I ve seen some images about 2 stroke carbureted turbo (motorcycle derivation engine). Now.. In the past in this forum some members spoke about turbocharging 2 stroke but not in sufficient detail. The intake and the exhaust are open at the same time and there are no valves like a 4 stroke. But if you search online you can find carbureted 2stroke turbo sled or the Am6 turbo. The question is: Is really possible turbocharge a 2 stroke carburated(NOT EFI)petrol engine and...
