AI Thread Summary
When choosing between MSc Physics programs at Jawaharlal Nehru University, University of Pune, and Delhi University, it's crucial to compare course descriptions and specific offerings to identify which aligns best with individual academic and career goals. While personal preferences play a significant role, brand recognition is also a factor; Delhi University may have greater visibility among employers in the US compared to the other institutions. Ultimately, the decision should be based on a thorough evaluation of each program's strengths and how they fit into future plans.

Hi,
I've got admission to MSc Physics at Jawahar lal University,Univ. of Pune and Delhi univ. and i can't decide where to join.

Well, have you looked at their course descriptions and compared them? Have you seen what's different in each, and has either of them jumped out at you more than the other? No-one can tell you where to go!

I doin't know what your plans are for the future and I have no idea which uni. is better. Howver, from a Brand name recognition perspective in the US I bet Delhi Univ. would be much more recognizable by employers than the other one. (Wow I allready forgot it's name! ) :)

Good luck

I’ve been looking through the curricula of several European theoretical/mathematical physics MSc programs (ETH, Oxford, Cambridge, LMU, ENS Paris, etc), and I’m struck by how little emphasis they place on advanced fundamental courses. Nearly everything seems to be research-adjacent: string theory, quantum field theory, quantum optics, cosmology, soft matter physics, black hole radiation, etc. What I don’t see are the kinds of “second-pass fundamentals” I was hoping for, things like...
TL;DR Summary: I want to do a PhD in applied math but I hate group theory, is this a big problem? Hello, I am a second-year math and physics double major with a minor in data science. I just finished group theory (today actually), and it was my least favorite class in all of university so far. It doesn't interest me, and I am also very bad at it compared to other math courses I have done. The other courses I have done are calculus I-III, ODEs, Linear Algebra, and Prob/Stats. Is it a...
