AI Thread Summary
ATMAE accredited engineering programs, particularly in Applied Electronics Engineering, are viewed with skepticism regarding their marketability and job prospects. The degree is often perceived as a two-year engineering technology qualification that combines technical skills with management courses, but it lacks the traditional engineering rigor. Concerns have been raised about the employability of graduates, with anecdotal evidence suggesting difficulty in securing jobs. Job availability can vary significantly by location; in some areas, positions may be more accessible for electrical engineering technologists compared to traditional electrical engineers. However, the scope of work for those holding a two-year tech degree is generally limited.

Does anybody know anything about ATMAE accredited engineering programs? I'm currently studying Applied Electronics Engineering, and I know it's not traditional engineering nor is it engineering at the least.. it's kind of a joke; just a two year engineering technology degree with management classes added on.

What I need to know is, will this degree be marketable?? Can I find a job easily with it?? I haven't spoke to anybody that's graduated with this degree, but I've heard that none of them can find a job. I really need to know if this is true or not.

Please help.

I know a guy with a degree like that who works at Telligent.

Obviously this would depend on location. It's easier for an electrical engeering technologist to get a job than an electrical engineer at my location; however, you are limited with what you can do with a two year tech degree.

Hey, I am Andreas from Germany. I am currently 35 years old and I want to relearn math and physics. This is not one of these regular questions when it comes to this matter. So... I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
