Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around a participant seeking assistance with specific mathematical steps in a series of problems, particularly transitioning from sections 2.28-2.29 to 2.31-2.34. The focus appears to be on understanding mathematical manipulations involving differential operators and integrals within vector calculus.

Discussion Character

  • Homework-related
  • Technical explanation

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses confusion about the transition between specific problem sections and requests help.
  • Another participant asks for clarification on the specific problem to better assist the original poster.
  • A third participant suggests that the original poster should identify the exact step causing confusion to facilitate targeted help.
  • There are suggestions regarding the proper way to share images of the problems for better clarity, emphasizing the use of the forum's file attachment feature.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree that identifying the specific problem is crucial for providing effective assistance. However, there is no consensus on the exact nature of the confusion or the necessary steps to resolve it.

Contextual Notes

Participants note that the issues raised involve standard manipulations in vector calculus, but the original poster has not specified which particular step is unclear, leading to a lack of focused guidance.

Hello,
I'm lost on how to get from 2.28-2.29 to 2.31-2.34! Please help

Where is your specific problem?

In the following solution, I don’t understand the math step in 7.18 to reach 7.21, can you help detail it for me please:

There's no need to use imgur or some similar site, to post images here. Instead, use the "Attach files" button to upload image files to this forum. After they have been uploaded, you will see buttons for choosing whether to display thumbnails or the full images.

I also still don't know, where the specific proplem is. These are all standard manipulations with differential operators and integrals of vector calculus. There must be one specific step, where you lack understanding. Maybe we can help you, when you point at it. Otherwise we can only repeat the derivation and again most probably miss to help you with your specific problem.

You can even just cut and paste. And if the useful part is only a fraction of the whole picture, PLEASE use snippet to copy only that part !
