Hello!

I have a question from a test that I wasn't sure about, so I guessed.

The question is:

f(3)= 5
g(3)= -4
f'(3)= 1.1
g'(3)= .7

What is fg'(3)

Answer choices: a) .9 b) .4 c) -.9 d) -.4

Does anyone know the answer? And how did you get it?

Help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Do you mean (fg)'(3)?

Also, homework help forum.

Also (fg)'=fg'+gf'
So just plug in what they gave.

You are required to show some effort at answering the question when posting schoolwork questions. Please use the hints from johnqwertyful and show your work...

There are two things I don't understand about this problem. First, when finding the nth root of a number, there should in theory be n solutions. However, the formula produces n+1 roots. Here is how. The first root is simply ##\left(r\right)^{\left(\frac{1}{n}\right)}##. Then you multiply this first root by n additional expressions given by the formula, as you go through k=0,1,...n-1. So you end up with n+1 roots, which cannot be correct. Let me illustrate what I mean. For this...
