AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the possibility of HIV becoming airborne and the conditions required for this to occur. For HIV to be transmitted through the air, it would need to cause an upper airway infection, leading to the lysis of cells that could then release the virus into the air during actions like sneezing. However, it is noted that HIV primarily targets specific immune cells and does not typically cause upper airway infections, making airborne transmission unlikely.

Could HIV become airborn and what if it does?

For it to become airborn, it needs to be causing an upper airway infection, lysing those cells, where it is carried through the air during sneezing or something.

I don't think HIV actually causes upper airway infections, those are not the cells it targets to infect.
