How are animals digested in the human body?

AI Thread Summary
When humans consume steak, the body processes the animal proteins by breaking them down into their constituent amino acids through the action of enzymes known as proteases. This breakdown occurs during digestion, allowing the body to absorb these amino acids. Once absorbed, the amino acids are utilized in cells to synthesize human proteins through standard DNA and RNA transcription processes. The body does not simply repair the 3D structure of animal proteins; instead, it fully deconstructs them into amino acids before rebuilding them into human proteins.

When humans eat steak , the human body converts those animal protiens into human protein.
how does the body actually does that ? does it break down the animal protein into its subsequent amino acids or just repair its 3D structure to match that of the human protein structure without breaking down into amino acids?

They are broken down into their constituent amino acids by enzymes called proteases. In your cells, the amino acids are built back into proteins by the usual processes of DNA/RNA transcription.

I am reading Nicholas Wade's book A Troublesome Inheritance. Please let's not make this thread a critique about the merits or demerits of the book. This thread is my attempt to understanding the evidence that Natural Selection in the human genome was recent and regional. On Page 103 of A Troublesome Inheritance, Wade writes the following: "The regional nature of selection was first made evident in a genomewide scan undertaken by Jonathan Pritchard, a population geneticist at the...
