AI Thread Summary
To create the illusion of a larger moon using mirrors, a digital video camera with zoom capabilities combined with a projector is suggested as a simpler and more cost-effective solution than using large curved mirrors. The discussion emphasizes that the request essentially parallels building a telescope, specifically a Newtonian reflector, which utilizes mirrors to project images. This method would allow for real-time viewing of the moon at an enlarged scale. Overall, using optical projection techniques can achieve the desired effect without complex setups. The focus remains on practical, real-time image enhancement rather than digital manipulation.

Hello,

Funny request here. I'm trying figure out a way to mount a series of mirrors to make the moon look bigger or give the illusion that it is bigger. I have no clue how to go about this, I'd appreciate your ideas and thoughts on this.
Thanks

p.s: This is without using a computer. I'd like a real time image of the moon to fall in place on a mirror and make it look much much bigger.

A digital video camera with a good zoom + beamer will give you a real time image. Probably much cheaper and simpler than some big curved mirrors you might need for a purelly optical projection.

TL;DR Summary: In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. In case of failure to detect alien signals, it will further expand the radius of the so-called silence (or rather, radio silence) of the Universe. Thread 'Could gamma-ray bursts have an intragalactic origin?'
This is indirectly evidenced by a map of the distribution of gamma-ray bursts in the night sky, made in the form of an elongated globe. And also the weakening of gamma radiation by the disk and the center of the Milky Way, which leads to anisotropy in the possibilities of observing gamma-ray bursts. My line of reasoning is as follows: 1. Gamma radiation should be absorbed to some extent by dust and other components of the interstellar medium. As a result, with an extragalactic origin, fewer...
