AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on understanding how currents are generated in a specific circuit involving a diode. The original poster expresses confusion over the notation used and the behavior of the diode, suggesting it contradicts expected current flow. They emphasize the need to determine the function f, which represents the current through the diode as a function of its voltage. The conversation reveals that the problem ultimately relates to the van der Pol equation, indicating a deeper mathematical relationship. Clarifying the function f is essential for solving the circuit's current dynamics.

How does this man get his currents?

1. Homework Statement [/b]

I'm having a time trying to figure out how these currents are made.

I don't understand his notation. It seems simple, but it is going the opposite way of what it should be doing because of the diode, right?

Attached is the circuit and his formulations of the currents.

f(...) is the current through the diode as function of its voltage. As long as f is unknown, the third equation says nothing interesting.

We are trying to find what f is.

Turns out that this turns into the van de pol equation.

Thread 'Help with Time-Independent Perturbation Theory "Good" States Proof'
(Disclaimer: this is not a HW question. I am self-studying, and this felt like the type of question I've seen in this forum. If there is somewhere better for me to share this doubt, please let me know and I'll transfer it right away.) I am currently reviewing Chapter 7 of Introduction to QM by Griffiths. I have been stuck for an hour or so trying to understand the last paragraph of this proof (pls check the attached file). It claims that we can express Ψ_{γ}(0) as a linear combination of...
