SUMMARY

The discussion centers on estimating the speed of an unidentified flying object (UFO) observed in a video at the timestamp of 1:51. Participants suggest that the object could be traveling at approximately 600 mph, but emphasize the difficulty in making accurate assessments without knowing the distance from the camera. The conversation highlights the challenges of estimating speed based on visual cues and camera angles, ultimately leading to the conclusion that definitive identification remains elusive without further data.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic physics concepts related to speed and distance.
  • Familiarity with video analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of camera angles and their impact on object perception.
  • Experience with estimating sizes of objects in videos.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research video analysis software for speed estimation.
  • Learn about the physics of motion and how it applies to aerial objects.
  • Explore techniques for measuring distances in video footage.
  • Investigate methods for identifying and categorizing unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).
USEFUL FOR

Aerospace enthusiasts, video analysts, and individuals interested in the physics of motion and aerial phenomena will benefit from this discussion.

Homework Statement

I want to know how fast this jet, bird, UFO is traveling at around 1:51. It appears to the right of Dana's head in the interview.

EDIT: I guess this forum doesn't do embedding?

Homework Equations

No idea, but here's a screenshot from the video.

The Attempt at a Solution

Around 600 mph?

It is too hard to find out its speed without knowing distance from camera, if it is a jet, you *may* guess its size and speed may be obtained with cameras view angle, but it is too hard to find. There may only be guesses i think.

Estimations are what I'm looking for anyways, I just want someone to either rule out a bird.
