AI Thread Summary
The lifespan of a Sansa Clip, which uses a non-replaceable Lithium Polymer battery, typically exceeds 1000 charge cycles, translating to a couple of years of usage if operated for 2-3 hours daily. As the device ages, the battery will gradually lose its ability to hold a charge, resulting in shorter usage times between charges. Given that technology evolves rapidly, it is likely that by the time the battery fails, the device may be considered obsolete. Users contemplating whether to sell their device or wait for the battery to die should consider these factors. Comparatively, Apple iPods also have a limited lifespan, but specific longevity details were not provided. Overall, while the Sansa Clip remains functional after several years, the longevity of its battery and the potential for obsolescence are key considerations for users.

Hi,
I have a sansa Clip that is 2 years old. Still works well. I know that one day the non-replaceable battery will die. If I use it 2-3 hours a day everyday during "dead" times like travel, how many years on average can I expect out of it? In terms of money, Should I sell it and buy a new one? Or wait for it to die and buy a new one?

It depends on a lot of factors, the quality of the original cell,s the quality of the charger, temperature etc. But it's generally >1000 charge cycles, so a couple of years.
The idea is that by the time the battery is dead the device is obsolete.
As the unit ages it will gradually hold less charge and so run for less time between charges.

Sansa Clip mp3 players use Lithium Polymer cells does this help?

How long do apple ipods last in terms of years?

I find 4Gb to be quite usable. And small.

I got it as a gift around Dec 2007. Still works fine. I know lithium batteries don't last forever.

In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
Thread 'ChatGPT Examples, Good and Bad'
I've been experimenting with ChatGPT. Some results are good, some very very bad. I think examples can help expose the properties of this AI. Maybe you can post some of your favorite examples and tell us what they reveal about the properties of this AI. (I had problems with copy/paste of text and formatting, so I'm posting my examples as screen shots. That is a promising start. But then I provided values V=1, R1=1, R2=2, R3=3 and asked for the value of I. At first, it said...
