How to convert length units to inverse cm

AI Thread Summary
Converting length units like angstroms and nanometers to inverse centimeters (cm^-1) is fundamentally problematic because they represent different concepts: length versus spatial frequency. The discussion highlights that these units cannot be directly converted without context. A user mentions a specific application involving a Fabry-Perot interferometer, suggesting a potential need for such conversions in that context. However, the conversation emphasizes that while creative unit combinations like barns per centimeter could exist, they may not serve a practical purpose. Understanding the distinction between these units is crucial for accurate scientific communication.

Please elaborate what you are trying to do.

In general - you can't, as one is a length unit, other is a spatial frequency unit. Different things.

i want to use it with Fabry-Perot interferometer

Well, you could have barns per centimer, or something like that. Not sure why you'd want it, but you cold.

I think it's easist first to watch a short vidio clip I find these videos very relaxing to watch .. I got to thinking is this being done in the most efficient way? The sand has to be suspended in the water to move it to the outlet ... The faster the water , the more turbulance and the sand stays suspended, so it seems to me the rule of thumb is the hose be aimed towards the outlet at all times .. Many times the workers hit the sand directly which will greatly reduce the water...
