AI Thread Summary
FSB, or Front-Side Bus, is crucial for system performance as it determines the speed at which the CPU accesses RAM. A high FSB speed is ineffective if the RAM cannot support it, highlighting the importance of matching RAM capabilities with FSB specifications. Additionally, RAM speed cannot be accurately represented by a single number; for instance, 800MHz RAM may not be precisely twice as fast as 400MHz RAM due to various influencing factors. This complexity emphasizes the need for careful consideration when selecting both CPU and RAM to optimize overall system performance.

What is FSB? How is it critical to the whole system's performance? Is it to do with RAM ?

Front-side bus: it's the speed at which your CPU can access the computer's RAM. It's fairly important for your overall system performance. But:

1) A really fast FSB is useless if your memory can't run that fast. Really fast RAM can get really expensive, so make sure you check that out.

2) RAM speed, just like CPU speed, can't be described by just a single number. 800mhz RAM could be way more or way less than twice as fast as 400mhz RAM, depending on various things.

Thread 'Urgent: Physically repair - or bypass - power button on Asus laptop'
Asus Vivobook S14 flip. The power button is wrecked. Unable to turn it on AT ALL. We can get into how and why it got wrecked later, but suffice to say a kitchen knife was involved: These buttons do want to NOT come off, not like other lappies, where they can snap in and out. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
