I Is Anything Truly at Rest in Every Frame of Reference?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the concept of whether anything can be at rest in every frame of reference. It argues that if such a state were possible, all objects would be stationary relative to one another, which is deemed impossible in reality due to the constant movement of objects in various directions and velocities. The conversation highlights that a frame of reference is not a physical entity and can exist independently, as illustrated by cosmologists using the cosmic microwave background as a uniform reference. Ultimately, the impossibility of a universal state of rest is emphasized, reinforcing the complexity of relative motion in the universe. The topic invites further personal exploration and understanding of these principles.

I think you should try to work this one out for yourself.

If it were possible, nothing special would happen. It would just mean that all objects are stationary with respect to one another. But that's an impossibility in the real world. How can you have a frame of reference at rest with respect to all other frames of reference, when objects are observed to be moving all over the place in different directions and with different velocities? And that ignores the fact that a frame of reference is not a physical object and doesn't need to be attached to an object. For example, cosmologists commonly use a frame of reference in which the cosmic microwave background is seen to be uniform. This frame is not attached to anything.

I think it's easist first to watch a short vidio clip I find these videos very relaxing to watch .. I got to thinking is this being done in the most efficient way? The sand has to be suspended in the water to move it to the outlet ... The faster the water , the more turbulance and the sand stays suspended, so it seems to me the rule of thumb is the hose be aimed towards the outlet at all times .. Many times the workers hit the sand directly which will greatly reduce the water...
