AI Thread Summary
Michael Dine is not widely recognized outside of specific academic circles, particularly within the string theory community. While some participants in the discussion acknowledge having heard his name, it is clear that he is not a household name. Dine is known for his contributions to theoretical physics, including his work on supersymmetry, and he has authored a book that is referenced in the discussion. The inquiry into his fame suggests a lack of general awareness about him, indicating that his recognition is primarily limited to those involved in advanced physics studies.

how famous is Micheal Dine?

Physics news on Phys.org
Slightly less famous than it would take for me to have ever heard of him.

Well...I've honestly never heard of him, lol. Who is he?

Is he your professor or something?

I think he is rather known within the string community. I have heard his name a few times, through some of my more "stringy" colleagues and because of a course in supersymmetry.
