any antivirus that is free and that doesn't need to be registered and internet as well to be updated?

AVAST has a free version, and threat updates are added daily. You do need to have access to the internet, so that AVAST can "call home" and get the latest updates.
 
Other popular free anti-virus programs are AVG and Avira. Like Avast you need internet access for updates.
 
google is your friend. It will not only point you to lots of them, it will point you to reviews of them.
