I have comment and question that I'm not sure how to answer. Maybe someothers around here could shed some light on it. Laughlin talks about using mathematics to solve the Hubbard, t-J and other models and that these models don't have any basis in reality. Could this mirror what was going on in the early 20th century with the devolpment of QM? I don't have any quick reference to the history to find the answer my self.
