AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around clarifying mathematical terms such as "simplify" and "solve," particularly in the context of fractions and algebraic expressions. The suggested learning path includes simplifying fractions, algebraic expressions, algebraic fractions, and solving algebraic equations. While this list serves as a starting point, it is noted that the categories are broad and could benefit from more specific subtopics. For instance, simplifying fractions involves operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of rational expressions, while algebraic expressions encompass linear, quadratic, and rational expressions, among others. Additionally, algebraic equations cover various subtopics. A resource mentioned for further study is Schaum's Outline of Elementary Algebra, and a link to free NCERT textbooks for grades 1 to 12 is provided for additional learning materials.

i have some confusions with some terms ,especially terms like simplify , solve .
Factors ,GCF ,LCM

Should i start learning it like this ?
Simplify fraction
Simplify Algebraic expression
Simplify Algebraic fractions

The looks ok to me. You might look at Schaum's Outline of Elementary Algebra to see what they do.

@FactChecker's suggestion is a good one, IMO.

The list above is a rough start, but most of the divisions are too broad to be very helpful.
We could include with "simplify fraction" these operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of rational expressions. Simplifying algebraic fractions usually means removing common factors from the numerator and denominator, and these depend on knowledge of factoring and least common multiple.

"Algebraic expression" could include lots of topics, including linear and quadratic expressions, rational expressions, expressions with radicals, expressions with exponents, and lots more.

"Algebraic equations" likewise includes many subtopics.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions Mark44 ,
I was trying to download some texts from this website

TL;DR Summary: I want to do a PhD in applied math but I hate group theory, is this a big problem? Hello, I am a second-year math and physics double major with a minor in data science. I just finished group theory (today actually), and it was my least favorite class in all of university so far. It doesn't interest me, and I am also very bad at it compared to other math courses I have done. The other courses I have done are calculus I-III, ODEs, Linear Algebra, and Prob/Stats. Is it a...
