AI Thread Summary
Finland celebrates its first victory in the Eurovision Song Contest, thanks to the band Lordi. The performance has sparked mixed feelings, with some expressing enjoyment at the unique blend of monster-themed visuals and heavy music, contrasting sharply with typical entries that often lean towards pop and ballads. There's a sense of irony in the celebration, as some participants admit to disliking Eurovision but enjoy the festivities that follow, especially when under the influence. The anticipation for next year's contest is tinged with skepticism, fearing a return to more conventional and less exciting performances. The discussion highlights a blend of excitement, critique, and a humorous take on the Eurovision experience.

Maybe. I just cannot make up my mind if I enjoyed it or if it's just because it was nice to see a gang of monsters totaly beating the crap out of all etno junk, ABBA copies, Shakira wannabies and crooners...

Like a cross between Kiss and S Club 7! Awesome!

I bloody hate Eurovision, except when you get twatted and then dance around like loons afterwards...

... we rule  ! Send average appearing Finns to compete and they deliver. Since Finland apparently can't dodge arranging the contest next year probably going to suffer more of the "silicon - filled - performances & artists" & related tripe :approve: .

(the iihfs on the other hand ... man!)

Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
