AI Thread Summary
For 3D modeling with movable parts, users seek software that allows interaction with rivets and joints for dynamic designs. SolidWorks is recommended for its relatively fast learning curve and ability to constrain components, enabling realistic movement. Users can create and assemble parts separately, adjusting degrees of freedom for functionality. While SolidWorks can perform simple loading simulations, advanced stress analysis may require additional tools like DYNA. Overall, the focus is on finding user-friendly software that balances ease of learning with essential features for modeling mechanical movements.

I'm looking for a 3d modeling software that let's me interact with rivets and joints to see how it would move. Basically I want to design a contraption made out of wooden slats and hinges/joints that open and folds into certain shapes. I would prefer software with a very low learning curve. Also I would prefer something with stress variables but not if it makes learning the software harder.

SolidWorks has a very fast learning curve if you haven't come across it already. After creating your components seperately you assemble them by constraining their degrees of freedom individually. So if you don't fully contrain your components, you can easily swing parts around axis or joints.

I have to do DYNA sims to find stress values in CAD, but SolidWorks may have options for simple loading.

Here's a video by “driving 4 answers” who seems to me to be well versed on the details of Internal Combustion engines. The video does cover something that's a bit shrouded in 'conspiracy theory', and he touches on that, but of course for phys.org, I'm only interested in the actual science involved. He analyzes the claim of achieving 100 mpg with a 427 cubic inch V8 1970 Ford Galaxy in 1977. Only the fuel supply system was modified. I was surprised that he feels the claim could have been...
Thread 'Turbocharging carbureted petrol 2 stroke engines'
Hi everyone, online I ve seen some images about 2 stroke carbureted turbo (motorcycle derivation engine). Now.. In the past in this forum some members spoke about turbocharging 2 stroke but not in sufficient detail. The intake and the exhaust are open at the same time and there are no valves like a 4 stroke. But if you search online you can find carbureted 2stroke turbo sled or the Am6 turbo. The question is: Is really possible turbocharge a 2 stroke carburated(NOT EFI)petrol engine and...
