Hello Forum
I have a question related to Pipe threads. Does anybody know the maximum temp. a NPT Thread i.e,( National Pipe Thread) can withstand on a 2" piping without compromising its performance. It has 11-1/2 TPI (Threads Per inch)
Any references, vendors, personal experiences that can help. The pipe carries 'hot gas' in it.

I would say it depends more on the material than the fact that the material is threaded.
 


It depends on the material of construction of the pipe...

Is it stainless steel? Temp rating will be high

Carbon Steel? It will be a lot lower.

Then you can look up a chart that will tell you the max temperature rating.

I'm trying to decide what size and type of galvanized steel I need for 2 cantilever extensions. The cantilever is 5 ft. The space between the two cantilever arms is a 17 ft Gap the center 7 ft of the 17 ft Gap we'll need to Bear approximately 17,000 lb spread evenly from the front of the cantilever to the back of the cantilever over 5 ft. I will put support beams across these cantilever arms to support the load evenly
