Mechanical Engineering finish time

AI Thread Summary
The average time to complete a Mechanical Engineering degree is typically four years, although some students may take up to five years if they participate in internships or co-op programs. The course requirements outlined by the University of Ottawa indicate a structured path that suggests a four-year completion is feasible, but the rigor of the program can make this challenging for some students. Many graduates confirm that they were able to finish their undergraduate studies within the standard four-year timeframe.

Does anyone know the average time it takes to finish a Mechanical Engineering degree because I've been going over the course http://www.uottawa.ca/academic/info/regist/calendars/programs/99.html" and it looks pretty tough to finish this in 4 years.
That list of requirements has up through 4th year compulsory courses, so it appears they expect a student to complete a baccalaureate program in 4 years. Most MEs I know did their undergrad program in 4 years. Some did it in 5 with an internship or co-op (cooperative education) included.

TL;DR Summary: I want to do a PhD in applied math but I hate group theory, is this a big problem? Hello, I am a second-year math and physics double major with a minor in data science. I just finished group theory (today actually), and it was my least favorite class in all of university so far. It doesn't interest me, and I am also very bad at it compared to other math courses I have done. The other courses I have done are calculus I-III, ODEs, Linear Algebra, and Prob/Stats. Is it a...
