I'm working on a physics major but have been thinking of doing a minor in cs or maybe stats? Would either of these be beneficial or would one be more useful than the other?
Combining a physics major with a minor in computer science (CS) or statistics can significantly enhance career prospects, particularly in data science, data analytics, and applied AI. Both minors are beneficial, but a strong foundation in programming is essential regardless of the choice. Engaging with faculty from both departments can provide insights into how each minor aligns with career goals. This combination also opens opportunities in graduate studies in experimental and computational physics.
PREREQUISITESStudents majoring in physics, aspiring data scientists, and anyone interested in enhancing their analytical skills through computer science or statistics.
You can't go wrong with either, but make sure to get plenty of real programming experience regardless of your choice.danielle said:I'm working on a physics major but have been thinking of doing a minor in cs or maybe stats?
