Models for weather that include data from amateur stations?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

Organizations such as NOAA incorporate data from amateur weather stations into their weather prediction models, particularly through educational programs in New Mexico that establish school weather stations. These stations adhere to strict specifications to ensure data reliability and contribute to the microclimatic data set. The integration of amateur data enhances the accuracy of weather forecasting by utilizing localized information.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of NOAA's role in weather data collection
  • Familiarity with microclimatic data sets
  • Knowledge of weather station specifications and standards
  • Basic concepts of weather prediction models
NEXT STEPS
  • Research NOAA's educational programs for school weather stations
  • Explore the methodologies for analyzing data reliability from amateur weather stations
  • Learn about microclimatic data sets and their applications in weather forecasting
  • Investigate the impact of localized data on weather prediction accuracy
USEFUL FOR

Weather enthusiasts, educators involved in meteorological programs, researchers in climate science, and anyone interested in the integration of amateur data into professional weather forecasting models.

TL;DR
Do any organizations run mathematical models that predict weather and also incorporate data from amateur weather stations?
I have the impression (I've not actually researched the matter) that some online weather services publish data from weather stations set up by amateurs. Do any organizations incorporate such data in their weather prediction models? I'd think that using such data would involve a sophisticated analysis of whether the data itself was reliable.

Which major country does not?

Middle and high schools (secondary schools) in New Mexico have a program for setting up a school weather station. The data is kept and forwarded - the station has strict specifications IIRC, depending on what it does. There are vendors for kits. It is under the auspices of NOAA. I think it is kept as part of the microclimatic data set.

Here is one not far from where I live in NM - bosque is the Spanish term for the gallery forest along the Rio Grande river.
