Movie " Open Water"

I saw movie "Open Water" about american couple and how they were stranded at sea while diving, great movie anyway.
but i have a question : was that yellow thing attached to his diving gear a underwater camera ? if yes then they should use camera flash light to signal for help to passing ships.
At the end of the movie there is even short scene when someone is cutting shark stomach and they find this camera thingy ?

It's a common misconception that the yellow object attached to the diver's gear in "Open Water" was a camera. In fact, it was a dive buoy, which is used for safety and visibility purposes while diving. This buoy is usually attached to the diver's gear and floats on the surface, making it easier for boats to spot them in the water.

As for the scene where someone is cutting open a shark's stomach and finds the object, it is most likely a symbolic representation of the lost camera and how it was ultimately consumed by the ocean and its inhabitants. It adds to the overall feeling of being lost and helpless in the vastness of the sea.

Overall, the yellow object was not a camera, but rather a dive buoy, and the scene with the shark was more of a metaphor rather than a literal representation. "Open Water" is a powerful and thought-provoking film that showcases the harsh realities of being stranded at sea and the fragility of human life.
