Need Help with Physics Practical Project

AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around seeking ideas for a physics practical project focused on classical mechanics, with an emphasis on budget-friendly options. Suggestions include building a water rocket or a vortex cannon, both of which can be constructed without significant financial investment. The user also mentions a previous idea involving testing oval chainrings on bicycles, which was deemed too complex due to human factors. The conversation highlights the importance of balancing project complexity with available resources and equipment.

Hello,

I have to do a physics practical project for one of my courses. The problem is i can't come up with ideas for the practical. I'm leaning towards classical mechanics. I was wondering you could help me come up with something? If i posted this in the wrong section I am sorry but it wasn't really clear where this kind of question belongs.

Thanks in advance!

Depends on your idea of complexity. I think a water rocket would be pretty sweet, or a vortex cannon.

Im currently in my first year of university so I am familiar with most of calculus and most of classical mechanics. I think a water rock or a vortex cannon would be cool but unfortunately we don't have a big budget and limited equiqment haha. We first had the idea of testing a oval chainring in bycicles to see if it is better but the human factor in it was too great. So maybe that could give you an idea of how complex it approximately can be.

You don't need a big budget to build those.

Hey, I am Andreas from Germany. I am currently 35 years old and I want to relearn math and physics. This is not one of these regular questions when it comes to this matter. So... I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
