Numerical based on 3 parallel plates -Find the charge problem

AI Thread Summary
Three identical metal plates are arranged parallel, with the leftmost charged Q, the rightmost charged -Q, and the middle plate neutral. The discussion centers on determining the charge on the outer surface of the rightmost plate, with the expected answer being -Q/2. Participants emphasize the importance of using Gauss's theorem to solve the problem but stress that the original poster must make an effort to engage with the material. The thread concludes with a warning that lack of effort will result in the thread being locked.

Plz help-Numerical based on 3 parallel plates -Find the charge problem

Q} Three identical metal plates with large surface areas are kept parallel to each other. The leftmost plate is given a charge Q and the rightmost plate a charge -Q and the middle one remains neutral.Find the charge appearing on the outer surface of rightmost plate.

Sir please help me with this numerical.
The answer is -Q/2 but i am not able to understand the concept..

Thankyou

nooo

the question says "the rightmost plate a charge -2Q "!

ya exactly
Can you please help me with the answer ?

certainly

what will the charges be on all the other surfaces?

why do you think the two outermost surfaces have those particular charges?

i don't know anything about all this...
you tell please...

well ... this question can be easily solved if you just use Gauss theorem.
