AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on a new forum member preparing for their 'O' levels in Singapore while also taking the SATs, including the SAT reasoning test, Mathematics Level 2, and Physics. They seek information on whether the SATs alone are sufficient for admission to a university like Caltech. Responses emphasize the importance of reviewing the admissions requirements on Caltech's website, noting that top schools typically require SAT Subject Tests in addition to the SAT. Furthermore, it is highlighted that meeting the minimum requirements is not enough for admission, as the competition is intense and additional qualifications are necessary for a successful application.

Hey guys I'm new to this forum. I'm currently sitting for my 'o' levels in Singapore, but I am taking the SATs too. I'm taking the SAT reasoning test, Mathematics level 2 and physics paper.
I would like to know if the SATs by itself is enough for me to enter a university such as Caltech? I'm not familiar with the education system in the USA therefore I would require as much information as possible. Thanks!

You need to read their admissions site; most top schools also require SAT II tests. And those are only the minimum requirements to apply; getting in requires a lot more.

I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
