A Observations Helmholtz equation is unable to explain

Can someone explain to me some of the key observations Helmholtz equation cannot explain and why that is so? Thanks!

What's the connection to quantum mechanics ? Why didn't you post this in the mathematics forums ?

Sorry, perhaps I should have added "quantum mechanical observations". But good idea, I should try it in the maths forum too.

If we release an electron around a positively charged sphere, the initial state of electron is a linear combination of Hydrogen-like states. According to quantum mechanics, evolution of time would not change this initial state because the potential is time independent. However, classically we expect the electron to collide with the sphere. So, it seems that the quantum and classics predict different behaviours!
