AI Thread Summary
To run an old educational CD that requires 256 colors and a resolution of 600x480 on a new PC, access the Display Properties and click the Advanced button, then the Adapter tab, and select 'List All Modes' to find the desired settings. Alternatively, right-click the executable of the application, go to Properties, then the Compatibility tab, and enable options for running in 256 colors and 640x480 resolution. The first method is effective across various systems, while the second is specifically applicable to Windows XP.

Go into the Display Properties, click the Advanced button and then click the Adapter tab. Look for option to ‘List All Modes’…. if you get this far the resolution and 8-bit color you desire should be listed.

Good luck.

Or right click on the executable of the old app you are trying to run, and click "properties" then go to the "compatibility" tab and check "run in 256 colors" and "run in 640 x 480 screen resolution"

HTH,

syano that only works on XP, but BoulderHead way works on all i think.

Last night I had four docs with a red circle, one with blue. When I closed the blue and opened it again it was red. Today I have 3...
