AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the concept of generating electrical current through magnetic fields and moving ferrous metals, which is identified as the principle behind electric generators. A user seeks clarification on the physics involved, indicating they have not studied the subject for over six years. Another participant confirms that the inquiry is valid and not classified as homework. The original poster then proposes a theoretical idea involving Earth's magnetic field, a massive orbital ring, and space elevators as potential components for a large-scale energy generation system. This concept suggests a vision of harnessing "free" energy from these elements.

Hey, its been over 6 years since i studied physics seriously, was letting my mind wonder today when i hit upon an idea unfortunately i can't remember the exact physics involved.

Basically i remember something about being able to create an electrical current using magnetic fields and ferous metals moving within this field, can't remember the exact requirements or calculations though, could someone please help me?

Thanks one and all,
Squire

Just point out, no longer in education, sorry if this would be classed as the homework section though :S

Welcome to PF Devious,

What you describe is an electric generator. http://amasci.com/amateur/coilgen.html" has a video demonstration as well as some elementary theory regarding [AC] generators.

Nope, it isn't classed as homework and you've posted it in the right place :approve:

thanks, and now for my idea (its a gradeous one so feel free to laugh and the impossiblity of it) basically, the magnetic field is Earth's, the rotation circuit is a massive ring in orbit of the world, thirdly several of the "space elveators" that NASA are on about these days act as power cables to the surface of the planet, result, massive "free" energy source.

Thread 'Is there a white hole inside every black hole?'
This is what I am thinking. How much feasible is it? There is a white hole inside every black hole The white hole spits mass/energy out continuously The mass/energy that is spit out of a white hole drops back into it eventually. This is because of extreme space time curvature around the white hole Ironically this extreme space time curvature of the space around a white hole is caused by the huge mass/energy packed in the white hole Because of continuously spitting mass/energy which keeps...
