AI Thread Summary
Propylamine is more basic than ammonia due to the presence of an alkyl group attached to the nitrogen, which increases electron density. This enhanced electron density allows propylamine to accept protons more readily than ammonia. The discussion highlights the importance of alkyl groups in influencing basicity. Overall, propylamine's structure contributes to its stronger basic properties compared to ammonia. Understanding these differences is crucial in the study of amines and their behavior in chemical reactions.

propylamine ammonia basicity

Homework Statement

suggest which one of ammonia or propyl amine is more basic.

Homework Equations

The Attempt at a Solution

i know that a base is a proton acceptor. i am trying to figure out which one of them would accept a proton more readily.

ok, nevermind it's been solved. it is because of the alkyl group attached to nitrogen in propyl amine, making it have a greater electron density to accept a proton.

I don't get how to argue it. i can prove: evolution is the ability to adapt, whether it's progression or regression from some point of view, so if evolution is not constant then animal generations couldn`t stay alive for a big amount of time because when climate is changing this generations die. but they dont. so evolution is constant. but its not an argument, right? how to fing arguments when i only prove it.. analytically, i guess it called that (this is indirectly related to biology, im...
