Physics Problem: Drawing Vector Diagrams

Click For Summary
The discussion centers on a physics problem involving vector diagrams for two towns, TownA and TownB, specifically focusing on displacement and velocity vectors. Participants express confusion about how to create a velocity vector diagram for static objects, as the provided materials only cover displacement diagrams. There is a question regarding how many velocity vectors fit into the displacement vector and what this represents. The conversation highlights the complexity of the problem and the challenge it poses to students. Overall, the thread reflects a struggle with understanding vector representation in physics.

Our physics teacher gave us some chapter review questions from another book and I don't understand exactly what to do. Here is the question:
a) TownA is located 380km[S64oW} of TownB. Draw a displacement vector diagram and a velocity vector diagram to the same scale.
(Our book only shows displacement diagrams, period... Besides, how can one draw velocity diagrams for static objects?)

b) How many velocity vectors fit into the displacement vector? Explain what this represents.

Soooo...?
Is it really that tricky of a question?

Well yeah...! Why, BenF? Do YOU know the answer? Watch out 'cuz I'm going to getcha tomorrow at school...

Thread 'Correct statement about size of wire to produce larger extension'
The answer is (B) but I don't really understand why. Based on formula of Young Modulus: $$x=\frac{FL}{AE}$$ The second wire made of the same material so it means they have same Young Modulus. Larger extension means larger value of ##x## so to get larger value of ##x## we can increase ##F## and ##L## and decrease ##A## I am not sure whether there is change in ##F## for first and second wire so I will just assume ##F## does not change. It leaves (B) and (C) as possible options so why is (C)...
