Quantum Mechanics: Where to Begin?

AI Thread Summary
Interest in learning quantum mechanics is growing, with a focus on understanding the mathematical foundations rather than just qualitative features. The individual has a background in linear algebra, multivariable calculus, and complex analysis, seeking a book under $30 that is not a traditional textbook. Recommendations include a free quantum mechanics book and accompanying video lectures, which can be printed and bound for a reasonable cost. The Feynman Lectures, specifically Volume III, are also suggested as a valuable resource. Overall, there is a strong emphasis on accessible, engaging materials for learning quantum mechanics.

Hello all,

As you can probably tell from the title of this thread, I'm interested in learning about quantum mechanics (hopefully this thread will be ok here instead of in the learning materials section). I currently know a fair amount about the qualitative features and some of the important experiments of the theory, and I think I'm ready to get into the math behind everything. I have experience in linear algebra, multivariable, and complex analysis. Also, I'm looking for a book, not a textbook, and I'm hoping to spend less than $30 (used). Any recommendations?
