Question about Condensation of Space

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the concept of "condensation of space" as mentioned by Dr. Kaku, raising questions about how space or a vacuum can condense. Participants express confusion regarding the term and its implications, questioning whether a vacuum could function as a chemical reactor. There is skepticism about Dr. Kaku's statements, with some suggesting that his ideas may lack substance and focus more on attracting attention. Overall, the conversation highlights a desire for clarity on complex theoretical physics concepts. The topic remains unresolved, with participants seeking a deeper understanding of the idea presented.

Question about "Condensation of Space"

Uhm hi!

I was listening to Dr. Kaku on Coast to Coast Sunday, and had a question about something he mentioned, namely that he thought that strings were formed from the condensation of space.

I was wondering, and forgive if this is a silly question, but I'm only just delving into this realm, largely thanks to hearing Dr. Kaku speak on TechTV and Coast to Coast, how does space, or a vacuum, condense? And does this mean that a vacuum is a type of chemical reactor?

Again, sorry if this question is simlplistic or silly.

Thanks!

Michio Kaku has a history of saying things that are more fluff than substance. He appears, unfortunately, to be more interested in getting attention than saying things that make sense.

I have no idea what he could have meant by "condensation of space." It doesn't make sense.

TL;DR Summary: In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. In case of failure to detect alien signals, it will further expand the radius of the so-called silence (or rather, radio silence) of the Universe. Is there any sense in this or is blissful ignorance better? In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation.
