If you were given a (generous) budget and the resources, what area of astronomy, astro phys would you study?

I'am not an astromer or astrophysicst. But I would study black holes, there very internsting.I would also look for planets outside of the solar system.

I would study gamma ray burst and supermassive black holes. I would also like to accurately observe and compute the parallax of a star. I'm actually going study astrophysics after I get my degree in engineering.

Wolram, you haven't given us your thoughts on this.

Now that they have shared their findings with the larger community someone else might find an explanation - or maybe it was actually made by life.
TL;DR Summary: In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. In case of failure to detect alien signals, it will further expand the radius of the so-called silence (or rather, radio silence) of the Universe. Is there any sense in this or is blissful ignorance better? In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation.
