Has anyone ever tried to tell these "I'm not descended from apes!" people that a little further down the ladder there actually is something like a rat lurking, from which they descended?

Always wondered about those random eye locks in public. You just happen to both look in the same direction simultaneously and your eyes " lock" with theirs.

Shouldn't there be at least a road called " scrum" in the town of Rugby?

They used to have it, but it was always terribly overcrowded.

A few consecutive clicks led me to the info that the approximate distribution of vowels, consonants in English is 41 vs 59.

38.3% vowels in German. Y doesn't matter a lot in German. Did you count it as a vowel in English? I mean, it can be both. Wikipedia says it's 38.2% without and 40.2% with Y in English.

I cant remember. I think I followed from a page related to entropy , but can't remember which one. Just remember too, that Latin languages * had a higher proportion of vowels than " Saxon"(?) ones like German, English .

* As well as Chinese.

Im kind of embarrassed to admit it but I started avoiding this woman after she said " ATM machine", rather than just the non-redundant " ATM". Edit: I mean, obviously not in a cruel way.

Kind of depressing watching a video about the risks when staying at a hotel. 15 items described, and more to go.

That was a close one! Missed it by a nose.

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has confirmed that two jetliners had a close call above the Reno Tahoe International Airport.

According to the FAA, the incident happened on September 11, 2021, shortly before Noon. Southwest Airlines Flight 3271 was cleared by air traffic controllers to take off on Runway 16-Left. At the same time, the air traffic controller also cleared Delta Flight 2666 to land on the same runway.

As directed, both aircraft were traveling north to south with the Delta flight descending while the Southwest flight was accelerating for departure.

According to an FAA statement, “The controller maintained radio contact with both pilots and issued instructions to ensure the airplanes remained safely separated. The FAA determined that the closest distance between the two aircraft was 3,500 feet horizontally and 400 feet vertically.”
https://www.kolotv.com/2021/10/21/t...-call-above-reno-tahoe-international-airport/

There is a video showing DL2666 nearly over the top of the SW3271. It was much closer than 3500 feet horizontally.

I realized today that AIs are our (inevitable?) way to achieve Idiocracy. People using them are training them. So, who is it that learns from whom? Isn't that an example of our saying, "In the kingdom of the blind the one-eyed man is king."(Desiderius Erasmus, 1467 - 1536).

I missed a memo or something. E=mgh, ## E = mgh ##,
E = mgh
In some of my past posts the displaymode tex environment doesn't even include the tex brackets at all, they're replaced by some br /br thingamajig. As a result, the tex doesn't render. Is the ## still functional ?

edit: and again, it renders properly in preview, but as I post it, it's replaced by some br nonsense. :nb)

I respect Liam Neeson for wanting to try new horizons but I found his take on Frank Drebin pretty dismal.
