SACD/Audio CD is not recognised by DVD player

AI Thread Summary
The issue involves a CD that features both SACD and standard Audio CD layers, which is not recognized by an older DVD player, displaying a 'NO DISC' message. However, the CD plays successfully on a computer. Possible solutions include cleaning the DVD player's lens, as older players may struggle with certain discs due to dirt or wear. There is also a lack of understanding regarding the technical differences between SACD and standard audio formats, which may contribute to compatibility issues with older equipment.

I just bought a CD which is primarily the SACD version but which also contains the usual Audio CD layer, so that it should also be playable in normal players. I inserted it into the DVD player (it's what I usually use to listen to CDs), but the CD is not recognised. I get a 'NO DISC' on the display. I can play it in my computer, though.

Any suggestions?

If the player is old it might just be a simple issue of a dirty lens. One I had would play everything except this one DVD which was brand new that it wouldn't recognise. I cleaned it (for the first time after many years) and it worked fine.

Other than that I have no idea since I don't know what the technical differences are with SACD and normal audio.

In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
Sorry if 'Profile Badge' is not the correct term. I have an MS 365 subscription and I've noticed on my Word documents the small circle with my initials in it is sometimes different in colour document to document (it's the circle at the top right of the doc, that, when you hover over it it tells you you're signed in; if you click on it you get a bit more info). Last night I had four docs with a red circle, one with blue. When I closed the blue and opened it again it was red. Today I have 3...
