AI Thread Summary
The discussion highlights the release of 29 prisoners by Saudi authorities, who were previously held at Guantanamo Bay. This raises concerns about the perceived preferential treatment of Saudi nationals by the U.S. government, particularly regarding their treatment compared to other detainees. The conversation suggests that this pattern of releasing Saudi terrorists has been ongoing since at least 2005, indicating a long-standing issue of unequal treatment in the justice system. The mention of twelve-step programs implies a belief in rehabilitation rather than punitive measures for those involved in terrorism. Overall, the thread emphasizes the controversial nature of how Saudi detainees are handled post-release.

The narrator indicated that some of those in treatment were released from Guantanamo.
I can only assume then that Saudi terrorists receive special treatment by the USA.

Perhaps all we really need is more twelve step programs.

RIYADH (AFP) — Saudi authorities said they have freed 29 prisoners handed over to them after their release from the US detention camp at Guantanamo in Cuba. The 28 Saudi nationals and a foreigner born in the oil-rich kingdom were ordered released by Saudi justice and were freed some time last week, a spokesman for Interior Minister Mansur al-Turki was quoted as saying by the official SPA agency on Tuesday.

I think we could safely say that Saudi Arabian terrorists are definitely are getting preferential treatment. And it has been going on since at least 06.

Edit: This takes it back to 05.

Similar to the 2024 thread, here I start the 2025 thread. As always it is getting increasingly difficult to predict, so I will make a list based on other article predictions. You can also leave your prediction here. Here are the predictions of 2024 that did not make it: Peter Shor, David Deutsch and all the rest of the quantum computing community (various sources) Pablo Jarrillo Herrero, Allan McDonald and Rafi Bistritzer for magic angle in twisted graphene (various sources) Christoph...
Thread 'My experience as a hostage'
I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
