AI Thread Summary
Most US universities typically post open positions for science and engineering tenure track professorships on specific websites. For physics positions, a common resource is Physics Today, accessible at physicstoday.org/jobs. Additionally, the Chronicle of Higher Education is a widely used platform for advertising academic roles, found at chronicle.com/jobs. Posting policies for faculty positions can differ among institutions, but many require listings in the Chronicle and often include field-specific sites as well.

Is there a website that most US universities use to post open positions for science & engineering tenure track professorships?

Physics news on Phys.org
For physics, the standard site is

http://www.physicstoday.org/jobs/

In general, most academic positions are probably advertised in the Chronicle of Higher Education:

Policies on posting open faculty positions probably vary from one college/university to another. Where I teach, all open faculty positions must be advertised in the Chronicle, at least. They're usually also advertised in field-specific sites such as Physics Today, or the equivalent in other fields.

Sweet. That is exactly what I was looking for.

Thank you!

Hey, I am Andreas from Germany. I am currently 35 years old and I want to relearn math and physics. This is not one of these regular questions when it comes to this matter. So... I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
