AI Thread Summary
To set up a Netgear router for a wireless connection, it is generally only necessary to turn off the firewall temporarily during the installation process. Once the setup is complete, the firewall can be re-enabled without affecting the internet connection. Running a Windows firewall alongside a router typically does not interfere with the installation, but disabling it during setup can help troubleshoot any potential issues related to software firewall configurations.

I bought a netgear router and want to set up a wireless connection, but it says I have to turn off my firewall to set it up. Do I only need to turn of the firewall until it is set up or does it constantly need to be off to have the internet connection.

only while you are setting it up, most likely. I run my Windows firewall all the time and have a router.

Most likely it will not have any effect on the netgear installation, but for troubleshooting purposes they just want to cover all ground and depending on software firewall configurations it could hamper the install.

In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
Sorry if 'Profile Badge' is not the correct term. I have an MS 365 subscription and I've noticed on my Word documents the small circle with my initials in it is sometimes different in colour document to document (it's the circle at the top right of the doc, that, when you hover over it it tells you you're signed in; if you click on it you get a bit more info). Last night I had four docs with a red circle, one with blue. When I closed the blue and opened it again it was red. Today I have 3...
